The Destination! - Friend The Holy Spirit

Friend The Holy Spirit by Kellie-May

Yesterday, at church, my pastor spoke on being baptized in the Holy Ghost. From there that whole message spoke to me. I had to really think back and wonder, was I baptized in the Holy Ghost?
He took his scriptures from Acts 1:1-11

Act 1:1 Truly, O Theophilus, I made the first report as to all things that Jesus began both to do and teach
Act 1:2 until the day He was taken up, having given directions to the apostles whom He chose, through the Holy Spirit;
Act 1:3 to whom He also presented Himself living after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them through forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
Act 1:4 And having met with them, He commanded them not to depart from
Jerusalem, but to await the promise of the Father which you heard from Me.
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Act 1:6 Then, indeed, these coming together, they asked Him, saying, Lord, do You at this time restore the kingdom to
Israel?
Act 1:7 And He said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in His own authority.
Act 1:8 But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in
Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Act 1:9 And saying these things, as they watched, He was taken up. And a cloud received Him out of their sight.
Act
1:10 And while they were looking intently into the heaven, He having gone, even behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them,
Act 1:11 who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into the heaven? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into Heaven, will come in the way you have seen Him going into Heaven.
Now what he was really saying is, is the Holy Spirit your friend?
How can we say that we have him if we totally ignore him? I mean if we do have Jesus in us, then we should be able to say that He is our best friend, right? But some of us say to ourselves, sure I have Jesus but only when I need Him. We tend to use Jesus only when the situation seems right or if we're in trouble. We should be treating Jesus as well as the Holy Spirit as our best friend. Talk to Him about everything, not just when you need something, or when you have found yourself in trouble. Don't ever push them away, bring them close and talk to them. Let them know what is going on in your life and ask them for help. They will jump at the chance to help you out. But they don't only want to know the bad stuff, they want to know everything about you, your desires, your dreams, your heart aches, and your happy days, etc. If you have a real best friend you tell them everything, well Jesus and the Holy Spirit are real and they do want to become your best friend as well. Start treating them like that and I guarantee they will be pleased and very happy.
When we get baptized in the Holy Ghost we wash away the old us and start fresh with a new life. I know that it isn't easy at first but if we keep at it, the Holy Spirit will help us along the way. One of the gifts we receive when we get baptized in the Holy Ghost is Speaking in Tongues, with the evidence of us being able to open our mouth and let the Holy Spirit speak through us. We give our voice over to God and let Him use us to speak things that we normally couldn't do ourselves.
So, like I stated earlier, I wasn't really sure if I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. So, yesterday after service, Pastor asked if anybody wanted to be baptized and a couple of people went up and was baptized. See, I already spoke in tongues, but something was pulling at me to go up and get it done right. just as I was getting ready to go up another young lady went up and asked for an increase in hers, and right then God spoke to me and told me that is what He wanted me to do. So, I went up and explained to my pastor how when I gave my life to Christ some 15 years ago, that I was never baptized in the Holy Ghost but could speak in tongues nevertheless, and he told me that when I did give my life to Christ I was already baptized in the Holy Ghost. For me that was very good news, all I needed now was just to increase it and when He prayed for me, boy did it come out, it flowed nicely. He also told me to continue praying in tongues and watch the changes happen. Not only that, my pastor warned me that the changes will be so great that even my husband will be wondering what happened to his wife :-)?
Just remember, these are just my thoughts, and I decided to put them down here. I just love what God is doing in my life. He is making me aware of so much that I love sharing it with all of you.
God bless you all
Love in Jesus Christ
Kellie-May
