The Destination! - How Precious Are You-

How Precious Are You By Jolene Eller

Over 41 years ago, a young girl found herself pregnant and still in high school. The fear she must have felt. I can't imagine the emotions she must have been feeling, panic to tell her parents, unsure of what to do, tears shed for the life she carried inside. As we know, abortion is very much used as birth control sadly. Thankfully, back then it wasn't legal. In the meantime, a wonderful Christian couple found themselves unable to have children. They had adopted a little boy but were now praying for a little girl. On May 27, 1967, a little girl was born to this teen age mom. Unselfishly, she had decided to give the little baby a home with a mom and dad. What a sacrifice she made that day. The little baby had a convulsion after delivery though so was placed in a foster home for 5 ½ months to make sure she was physically ok. Thankfully, she was. So 5 ½ months later, the couple found themselves on the elevator at the Children and Family Services riding up with a lady carrying a little girl all dressed in pink. The hopeful mother said to her husband, "I want a little girl like her." Well, their prayers were answered as this little girl was their gift that day and they took her home. They named her Jolene and that little girl was me.

I'm brought back to my favorite Psalms as I think of that day. Psalms 139:13-16 states, "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I PRAISE YOU because I am FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made; your WORKS are WONDERFUL, I KNOW that FULL WELL. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be." All I can say is My Precious Lord knew all about me before I was born. He knew all that I would go through on this earth. The struggles I would face, the joys I would have, and the tears I would shed.

As I look at the Word of God so many verses come to mind. LUKE 12:6-7 (6) "Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? (7) But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows." To think He knows the exact number of hairs on my head. Oh how deeply He knows you.

The verses that really speak to me in Psalms 139 are 17 and 18. "How PRECIOUS to me are YOUR THOUGHTS O God! How VAST is the SUM of them! Were I to count them, they would OUTNUMBER the grains of sand." I can't fathom that someone would think of ME so MUCH!! Have you ever considered how many grains of sand consume this world? I can't even comprehend it let alone how MUCH God loves me to think of ME that much!!! So see how PRECIOUS you are to HIM?????

I have many friends going through hard times right now and I pray that this touches them as well. Sometimes we are going through such hard times we think why bother any more? Well, let me tell you, Jesus lived here so He could KNOW exactly what you are facing and could help YOU!! Hebrews 4: 15-16 states, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who HAS BEEN TEMPTED IN EVERY WAY, YET WAS WITHOUT SIN. Let us then approach the throne of grace WITH CONFIDENCE so that we may receive mercy and find grace to HELP us in our time of need." So don't give up but CLING to Him. He so knows all you are facing. He came to this earth to live so HE could understand and then DIED for YOU!!! So How precious are you???? So precious, that His thoughts would OUTNUMBER the grains of sand!!! He has a wonderful plan for your life as He promises you in Jeremiah 29:11?to give you a future and a hope. So please know How precious YOU are to HIM!!
