The Destination! - What Are You Seeking

What Are You Seeking by Jolene Eller

Of all the things in life, what is the one thing you most desire, want or need? I know when I heard this question, many answers flew threw my mind?" a husband and children, to live closer to my family, to have more money, to serve God more?" In Psalms 27:4, David wrote; "ONE thing I ask of the Lord, that is what I seek, THAT I MAY DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE."

This verse really convicted me. Is this my desire, my want, my need? Honestly, deep down, it is!! A quote I had heard a while back by an unknown author states, "A woman's heart should be so lost in God,  that a man has to seek Him to find her." This in itself is convicting to me. Here I am single with more time then any family has, but do I spend the time I should with the Lord? Do any of us? God tells us in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me when you seek with ALL your heart."

Back in Psalms 27:4, I heard a pastor speak on this scripture. His first point was to Be With God? to be in the presence of the Lord. Secondly, Look At God, meaning to discover, to explore God. How often do we take time to really do that? Thirdly, Talk To God, meaning to inquire, to seek, to know.

In Psalms 27:8, David writes, "My heart says of you, 'Seek His face! Your face Lord I will seek.'" Another version states, "My heart has heard you say, come and talk to me and my response is I'm coming."
David's response was immediate? He was coming!! Many times we let our lives direct our course away from this time with God. Distractions occur, busy lives, and even idolatry such is in watching TV, sports, etc. Satan will do anything to keep us away from God. But time spent with God can not be taken away from you. It can only enrich your relationship and bring you closer to God.

Do you spend time with the Lord as you should? What do you lack? In Philippians 3:12-14, it speaks of "forgetting the past and reaching the goal (future) to win the prize for which God has called me!" Am I forgetting the past and racing towards that goal? So many times we let the past hinder our lives and we are not moving forward. Who I am tomorrow is not who I am today. God is going to continue to change me as long as I make my first and only desire to dwell with Him. So what is your desire, want, need? I pray it is to seek the Lord and to dwell with Him. Only that will truly satisfy your soul.
