The Destination! - Outside of The Cup Clean

Is Only The Outside of The Cup Clean by Deborah Horack

The scripture is in Luke 11:39, Then the Lord said to him, "Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?"

Many, I am sure have heard of this scripture more than a few times. As I was putting together my thoughts, and of course God's too, I started to think deeper. Is the inside clean of myself? Do I reflect and work at the inside as much as I do the outside. I watch what I eat, but I wonder half the time if its because I am more concerned how my figure looks than if it is good for my heart.

I exercise I shower, and do the so-called make-up ritual. When I have a bad hair day, when my eyes are puffy from lack of sleep, and of course the old saying "Does this outfit make me look fat?" Sometimes you can walk out the door feeling less than perfect. Now let’s take another look at how you can walk out the door with confidence.

As for myself, I have learned over the years how to accomplish this on most days. Instead of looking deep in the mirror I look deep in the bible to help guide me how to walk like Jesus. Instead of saying my eyes are black and puffy, I can say my eyes are full of the light of Lord. And when I have those fat days I can look at myself in the way God sees me, perfectly made and His child. To be able to go through the door with the armor of God around and in me.

To walk confidently knowing God loves me. To put forth all my effort in how I see and treat God's people, not if they approve of my outfit. As I begin my day loving the human race I am less likely to put all the focus on me. To build myself up on the inside into God's image. So when people see me they see the face of Christ. I do have many good days but I still have those days when I have to wash the inside again with the water of life Jesus gives me. Then am I ready to walk out that door full of confidence that I am serving the Lord today. And that is the exact kind of confidence I need. Knowing I have been cleansed from deep inside my spirit, I have washed the inside
