The Destination! - When We Sin, Something Dies

When We Sin, Something Dies by Jonathan Bolton

I have recently figured out a few things. I don't know if it will make any sense, and it probably won't sound as good as St. Paul's writings, but hope you'll bear with me as I try to share my discoveries.
You can go without sin, but the devil is always nearby and does tempt us to sin. Romans
3:23 says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
I've come to the point in my Christian life that I've figured out a few of the ways the devil likes to jump on me, or you could say attack, which really it is.
Some methods of attack include making me want to argue just to get people mad; cursing; telling lies; making me think someone is lying who is not; refusing to listen to anyone's opinion but my own; desiring to use drugs and drink; eating excessively; disobeying parents, the law, God's word; stealing; being afraid; and having sexual desires.
But all the devil ever does is lie. It's usually not a simple lie, something you can easily figure out. It's a deep lie, or a "hidden" lie. You have to think, he's been lying since the beginning of life. That sounds like some experience to me.
I've run across all of these lies from Satan. Maybe you have as well. Let me ask you something. Have you ever spiritually felt a battle going on inside yourself? Of course, we all have.
St. Paul talks about this in the letter to the Romans, the inner conflict between carnal flesh and spirit. In Romans Chapter 7, Paul says, "I want to do good, but I do the very opposite." That sounds just like my life.
I'm beginning to figure out many of these lies, and am slowly learning to resist. See, your sin affects you and the people around you. Romans
6:23 says, "The wages of sin is death." We can take that literally that we all die, but we also need to look at it this way. When we sin, something dies. Physically, spiritually or mentally
I can understand and relate to this 100%. I've known my sin. We all do. God allows us to know right from wrong. So I've sinned, knowing my sin was wrong, but not knowing yet that something died every time I sinned.
When I was younger, I acknowledged that I had sinned. Then, my dog died. You might laugh, but I knew I had sinned against God. While getting older, and sinning, my spirit lost the connection with God. You can't please two gods. If you like doing something for yourself, rather than God, you're putting what you like to do above God, and basically creating your own god, making two gods. God said you couldn't worship Him if you have made a second god - it goes against the 2nd Commandment.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20: 3- 6

So “with me" if I choose to sin, I am choosing myself over God, Who won't stay near the sin. God is Holy, there isn't any sin around or near God. So spiritually, you die, because God is not around at this time.
Remember that Satan is a liar. Again, I sinned, and this is where satan likes to come play. Satan easily tricks our minds. After I had committed my sin, which I knew was wrong, the devil would say that God wouldn't forgive me of that sin, and I wasn't God's child anymore.
So maybe for a little while, I believe the devil, and mentally, I die.
After learning all of this, I realized just how sufficient God's grace is towards us. We have to remember and acknowledge that grace is not a license to sin, but that grace is a blessing to renew us when we come short of the glory of God. To sin at all is abomination to God.
God promised He wouldn't put on us anymore than we could handle. If you struggle with temptation from the devil, all you have to do is call on Jesus.
The name Jesus has power behind it. While many mock, abuse, or use profane words with His name, He can deliver you from all your sorrows, pains and temptations. Don't forget - Satan is a liar. He will try to belittle you, make you feel ashamed and meaningless - all lies. You have to remind him who he is, while he is under your feet. You are going to Heaven, and he is going to Hell.
You have the victory - all you have to do is receive, acknowledge, and claim the Victory which is already won.
