Do I Trust In You Lord by Jolene Eller
Trust, a word we use so easily and flippantly at times especially when people are going through a hard time. The common used verse Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." We often say it but do we really, truly believe these words in our hearts? If so, why are we so stressed and worried? Why do we have ulcers? Why are our fingernails bitten so short our fingers hurt and bleed? God tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God and the peace that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." So why are we anxious? I believe because we're not trusting God even with the little things. I'm so guilty of this. The Webster dictionary defines trust as "reliance on the integrity, veracity, etc. of a person; confidence. 2. Confident expectation. The Greek word for trust is peitho meaning to have confidence, trust. It also is pisteuo meaning "to entrust" or "to be entrusted with." So why don't we entrust or have confidence in God with our struggles, worries, desires, etc? God has been teaching me the truth after all these years in Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust the with ALL, not some but ALL my heart; lean not on my own understanding because I definitely don't understand a lot of things that happen; in all my way acknowledge Him?acknowledge by prayer, reading the Word of God, worship, Christian counsel; and He WILL direct my paths.
Lord, help me to trust you daily with every detail of my life. Forgive me when I don't and gently remind me that YOU love me. You promise me in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, not harm you to give you a future and Hope." Help me and others to always remember this!!
