The Destination! - Word Up

Word Up by Kristie M Ledford

I would like to share with you an excerpt from my journal entry which was written on Friday, January 25, 2008.  As I began this very cold (10 degree), wintry morning with Father, Son and Holy Spirit, a cup of coffee, my Bible and my journaling notebook; the following was laid upon my heart. First, let me share the “headliners”…….which are the scriptures God began speaking into my heart and mind.  They are as follows:

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Ps. 119:105 NIV, emphasis mine

Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Ps. 119:89 NIV, emphasis mine.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Ps. 119:103 NIV, emphasis mine.

My soul faints with longing for our salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. Ps. 119:81 NIV, emphasis mine.

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. Isa. 40:8 NIV, emphasis mine.

“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isa. 55:11 NIV, emphasis mine.

While I was reading this scripture, the words I underlined were emphasized in my heart. Then, the following words proceeded from my heart onto the paper:

Father, I praise you! I love you so very much. I thank you so much for Your Holy Word.

When my situations have been hopeless…..Your word has given me hope.  Isa. 40:31

When the enemy attacks….Your word defends, conquers and breaks his back. Eph. 6:11-18, 2 Cor. 10:3-5

When my emotions are a wreck and I am feeble….Your word keeps me focused and stable. 1 Ptr. 4:1-5, Ro. 12:1-2

When temptation desires to have me….Your word delivers and sets me free. Jas. 1:13-18, 4:7; Mt. 6:13

When I am full of joy and life seems grand….Your word reminds me of why I can stand. Php. 2:12-16, Ro. 12:3

When I yearn for love….Your word reminds me it comes from above. 1 Jn. 3:16-20

When I see orphans, oppression and injustice….Your word commands I am to lend a helping hand. Isa. 58:6-9, Jas. 1:27

When I hear about the death of yet another man…..Your word declares salvation is Your plan. Jn. 3:16-21, Ro. 10:9-10

So, why do we allow business to interfere with reading and applying Your word? Maybe we are afraid that You will be heard…..after all, it is Your word. 2 Ti. 3:16

If you might be into acronym’s well, these popped into my heart and mind as I was focusing on the WORD.

W*O*R*D = Walking * Obediently * Requires * Discipline

W*O*R*D = Walk * Obediently * Receive * Deliverance

I pray God will bless you and that the peace of Christ will rule in your hearts, since as members of one body we have been called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as we sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. Col. 3:15-16 prayed personally for each of you!
