The Destination! - The Power

The Power by Kristie M. Ledford

All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all. This is the opening verse of a beloved hymn written by Edward Perronet, 1726-1792.  The words could only come from a heart who knew the power of Jesus’ name. Has the power of Jesus’ name transformed your life? Just the power of His name causes angels to fall prostrate before Him. Imagine what the power of Jesus’ name can do in our lives! Have you brought forth the royal diadem and crowned Him Lord of your life? I mean have you laid your life prostrate before Him in total surrender?

I believe the power of Jesus’ name can destroy, demolish and completely release us from all sinful bondages.  Regardless of the sins which have complete control of your heart, mind and life.  The power of Jesus’ name can and will send the hounds of hell back into the dark, fiery pit which they came out of.  It doesn’t matter how many years these sins have controlled your life.  The power of Jesus’ name can demolish destructive generational sins which have held entire families, and societies completely captive for centuries.

What is my burden of proof?  First, God’s word tells me about the power of Jesus’ name. Therefore, what God has said is true.  Mt. 10:5-8, Jn 14:12-14, Mt. 28:18-20. However, when I first believed and called upon the power of Jesus’ name I had not read this yet.  So, my burden of proof also lies in my experiencing the power of Jesus’ name in my life.  “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Ro. 10:13.  This was my first step in experiencing the power of Jesus’ name first hand. I, confessed with my mouth, “Jesus is Lord, “and I believed in my heart that God raised him from the dead, I was saved Ro. 10:9.

Now I had the potent power of Jesus’ name living within me. I asked Jesus, the “royal diadem” to be the Lord of my life.  I surrendered my entire life to “crown Him” Lord of all.  Let me tell you, the power of Jesus’ name began to work immediately.  The transformation of His powerful name began to manifest within my heart, mind and life.  The power of Jesus’ name and the power of Jesus’ blood began to deeply penetrate the dark crevices within my soul which had been paralyzed by years of habitual sins.  The chains began to break loose and the stronghold of sin, despair, shame and hopelessness were all being destroyed.  The power of Jesus’ name was setting me free, and the power of Jesus’ blood was covering me which released me from all guilt and judgment of those sins.

I want to share with you a poem which vividly describes the power of Jesus’ name at work.

A Women I Once Knew

There was a woman I once knew……

She held no regard for words spoken;

nor cared much for the path she would choose.

The woman never considered what she had to lose.

All she cared for was chasing after worldly things;

In pursuit of finding her much deserved dreams.

She began to realize how empty her life was;

This woman’s heart knew not love.

So, drink after drink and drug after drug she still found no love.

The woman learned how to numb her pain;

She soon found that all her efforts were in vain.

These very thoughts consumed and infected her brain.

To think for her meant coming out of denial,

a place where she indulged in sin and delayed her trial.

A world created by the most evil host;

He lied and reeled her in with many temporal boasts.

It was a marriage without the presence of the Holy Ghost;

Until one night she cried out her most.

Jesus took over and the most beautiful marriage began.

A marriage which would never have an end.

The King came in and set her free;

Jesus caused the devil to flee.

Her heart was made pure but the evil one still tries to lure;

Through the Holy Spirit and Bible she continually learns to endure.

Jesus teaches her each day;

While the Father molds His clay.

The woman’s heart has grown to fear the Lord;

This was not of her own accord.

The Father’s love continually draws her near,

He has given her something very dear.

She has received a most gracious pardon from the life she wanted so badly to flee;

However, she had to wait until God chose for her to see.

Who is this Woman?

She is me.

Well, that was over 7 years ago and the power of Jesus’ name has destroyed the bondages of sinful addictions which had ruled my life for over 16 years.  The power of His name and the power of His blood are sufficient to destroy whatever may have hold of us.  Jesus said in John 3:3, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”  I believe because I know whose name I called on, Jesus and I know the power of Jesus’ name working in and through me.  2 Ti 1:12, Eph 3:20-21, 1 Co 4:20, Acts 4:10, 12.  Do you have The Power?
