Overcoming Obstacles by Melissa
Jeremiah 32:27
27 "I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
Any obstacle, any circumstance can be overcome with victory if we put our trust in the Lord. Nothing you face is to hard for your God.
The ability to overcome and receive the victory is dependant upon our willingness to trust God with the unknowns of our life!
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding
If we try to understand how it's going to work, think about all the what ifs and speak the problem, we aren't going to be able to overcome ourselves out of a paper bag.
Words have been part of our life from the time we were in our mother's womb. From the earliest stage of development we have been trying to speak, and how we were spoken to affects the way we speak. How we were raised can't be an excuse for how we talk though, because as believers we are all new creations in Christ, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new!
We are the only creatures given the ability to think, reason, and speak. Parrots can mimic, but we are given the ability to use our tongue; which is connected to our spirit, soul, and flesh. This means we can think something, speak it out, and create it. This is a supernatural force that enables the words we speak to come to pass.
Think of it this way; you are the prophet of your life. When you speak you are prophesying over your life, your circumstances, and your obstacles. It's your choice whether you'll prophesy the Word of God over your health, wealth, and your place in eternity or you can choose to prophesy your thoughts, the enemies lies, or the negative things that have been spoken over you. It's up to you, but one thing is certain; your words will create victory or more obstacles.
Words are powerful. Just how powerful are they?
James 3:2-8 The Message
We get it wrong nearly every time we open our mouths. If you could find someone whose speech was perfectly true, you'd have a perfect person, in perfect control of life.
3-5A bit in the mouth of a horse controls the whole horse. A small rudder on a huge ship in the hands of a skilled captain sets a course in the face of the strongest winds. A word out of your mouth may seem of no account, but it can accomplish nearly anything—or destroy it!
5-6It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. A careless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that. By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smoke and go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.
7-10This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can't tame a tongue—it's never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the same tongues we curse the very men and women he made in his image. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!
James explains that every part of our being can be turned or guided by our tongue. Our tongue moves the whole body. Our tongue can move a mountain. If used rightly, it will surely lead us into the places of victory we have longed for.
Better marriages, fulfilled destinies, obedient children, and a sense of self-worth are right at the tip of the tongue. The problem with this is our meditation is creating our speech. What we are meditating on comes out like a flood. And if we are all honest, we will admit that our minds have some pretty dark corners, and our mouths follow. The more we speak the junk we think, the more we believe the junk we're speaking. It's a vicious cycle of the power of death.
Should our mouths line up with the Word of God, or should they line up with the dark corners of our mind? All of us would be embarrassed if someone could see some of the things we think, yet we allow those thoughts to shape what we say.
The truth of God's Word overcomes the facts that you see. His wisdom and His Words are 'without hypocrisy' as it says in James 3:17
James 3:17 Amplified
17But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).
That's why it's okay for us to have every symptom of defeat in our life and still go around quoting His Word as our own.
If you are sick-
By His stripes I am healed.
If the enemy comes in like a flood
I overcome the enemy by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony. Revelation 12:11 Throwing what God has done for you in times past in the enemies face, by talking about all the good things He has done.
If your marriage is in trouble-
What God has joined together, let no man separate.
This is not about trying to convince others that there is nothing wrong. If we did that we would be lying. We're confessing God's Word and agreeing that the truth of His Word is a higher reality than the facts we see.
Romans 4:17-18 The Message
17-18We call Abraham "father" not because he got God's attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody. Isn't that what we've always read in Scripture, God saying to Abraham, "I set you up as father of many peoples"? Abraham was first named "father" and then became a father because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing. When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn't do but on what God said he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples. God himself said to him, "You're going to have a big family, Abraham!"
We're calling those things, which are not as though they were. God does that. God's Word overcomes the facts of our humanity and if we believe His Word we will overcome our humanity. We see that in the story of Abraham. God changed his name and began speaking 'a father of nations' over him every time He said his name. The 100-year-old man that had no children was the father of nations because God spoke it. This happened because God spoke it, Abraham received it, he made it his; he owned God's Word, and to this day Abraham's seed is multiplying.
We must take possession of God's Word in order to see it come to pass. The overcoming does not just happen because the Word is there. People of faith don't just happen.
We have been given the tools for a victorious life in Christ, and our job is to create it with our mouths, our job is to enforce it with our mouth!
Contrary to the way you feel at times, your mouth does not have to line up with your mind. Get a hold of that. That can change your life. Your mouth needs to line up with the mind of Christ. Your mouth needs to line up with a mind that has been renewed on the daily feasting of His Word.
Think about your life for a moment. What you see in your life today is a picture of what you have created with your words in the past. Do you like what you see? Are there things that you would like to overcome with victory?
We must fill our hearts with the goodness of God's Word.
Proverbs 3:1 The Message
1-2 Good friend, don't forget all I've taught you; take to heart my commands. They'll help you live a long, long time, a long life lived full and well.
We do this by keeping His thoughts, and His Words before our eyes and ears daily.
Isaiah 55:11 New King James
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
You will overcome the enemy by the Blood of the lamb and the word of your testimony (Revelations 12:11)
Nothing is too hard for God.
Jeremiah 29:11 The Amplified
11For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
Agree with the Word, your mind might start screaming at you telling you the Word is a liar, but as you begin to speak it, your speech will change what you believe.
Faith possesses in the spirit what can't be seen in the natural. Faith in the Word, and your mouth speaking the Word will bring you the overcoming victory you need.
Don't let anything talk you out of what you're believing for! Don't stop short of the victory.
Are you willing to pay the price of victory? Or are you willing to settle for what the world says you must settle for?
You can be that person of faith! You can be that overcomer. It will take discipline in the Word. Discipline in your thought life. Discipline in your mouth. It's not just going to happen because you showed up, but you can do it! Start today, and overcome the obstacles in your life with faith in the Word! And speak it out.
