Surrendering Completely by Beverly Rich
When we took God at his word and accepted him into our hearts as our Lord and Savior we agreed to surrender ourselves to him. We agreed to live a life of Christ. Thus explaining the following message I want to share with you.
I don't know about you but I want more than anything to grow in Christ each and everyday. I want to be closer to him than I have ever been. I want to surrender myself to him completely and follow fast after him. I want to be like the widow woman which is spoken of in Luke 21:1-4 "As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on." (Amplified) I want God to know me as the one who has given him my everything, my all. As I think about it, all I have and all I am has been given to me by my father. All my strengths and all my talents are God given. It is in my weakness I find his strengths.
Like the widow woman, give God everything you have and everything you are. If you give God your talents and gift for his glory he will prosper you. He will make your weakness his strengths. His strengths, not mine, or mans, but his. In the latter part of 1st Corinthians 1:25 it says"...the weakness of God is stronger than mans strength."(Amplified) No matter how small your strengths and talents are they are oh so valuable to God and he will use them in unimaginable ways. Lets look at the parable of the Minas found in Luke 19:12-13 "He said therefore, a certain noble man went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, occupy till I come." Verses 15-21 "and it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in very little, have thou authority over ten cities. And then the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And he said likewise to him, be thou also over five cities. And another came, saying, Lord, behold here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin: for I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow." then verses 24-26 "and he said unto them that stood by, take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath the ten pounds. And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds. For I say unto you, that unto everyone which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him." (King James Version) This parable shows that if you are faithful in the little thing you shall be rewarded with much. And again in Matthew 25:14-30 there is also a parable, the parable of the talents, much like the one we just read.
If it is your will to serve God you should know that God has a plan for you. God had a plan for you before you were placed on this earth and he knows every decision you will make. You have a destiny so fulfill it. Ask God to show you what he has for you to do. For it say in Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be give to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knock, the door will be opened." (Amplified)
Now back to the surrendering part. If you surrender your life unto God you able yourself to be used by him. However there is a catch. Let me explain. There was a time in my life I wanted God to use me in so many ways and when he didn't I was so disappointed. However at that time I wasn't completely surrendered to him. I was still holding on to a part of myself, part of me was still giving place to sin. God can't use you if you aren't giving yourself wholey over to him. There is a scripture proving this in James 3:11-12 "Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grape vine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water." As light and darkness and oil and water do not mix nor does your worldly ways mix with Christ. 1st Corinthians 6:19 & 3:16 says your body is a temple of God. You must make your body, your temple, a place God can dwell in. A very wise person once told me "The Devil can be bigger than God if you make him that way, but if you surrender yourself completely to God you can stand on the bible verses that say "greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world."
Maybe you're tired of allowing the Devil to be bigger than God. Maybe you haven't allowed God to be even a tiny part of your life but you want to. May be you're wondering about your destiny and you want to fulfill your destiny. However before you can fulfill your destiny you have to come to Christ. Coming to Christ is as simple as it gets, and ever so rewarding. When you come to Christ you come to eternal life, healing, unconditional love, grace, and any other desire of your heart. You get so much when you come to Christ and it's so easy. All you have to do is have faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God. All you have to do is believe the word. John 3:16 say, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who so ever shall believeth in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life." You must simply believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sin. You must also believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and he lives forever more.
