This verse brought to remembrance something my mother told me and I heard myself tell my daughter the other day: God knows all things. He knows what we cannot see.
Nothing escapes His sight, not even the dead. They are not forgotten. This in itself, when thought upon, can really put the fear of God (the awe and respect of Him) in you. To think, that with all the billions of people now on the earth and those from before, not one has escaped His thoughts. Even the ones that are now damned have not escaped Him.
It's interesting that the word for destruction here is the word Abaddon, which is also used in Revelation 9:11 as one of the names of Satan. The enemy of our souls will try to deceive us and to destroy us, but he cannot deceive God. He sees all.
How much more does God know our hearts? Hebrews 4: 13 states Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
It is because of this nakedness that we can come boldly to the throne of Grace and receive mercy in the time of need. God already knows what is in your heart. One thing God desires more than anything is your honesty. Be honest with Him. He already knows anyway. Come as you are and leave changed by His love. Go to Him today in openness.
